Barbara Keal Artist and Feltmaker

I would like to speak to you directly, so I will.

I am an artist and feltmaker living in Lewes, East Sussex. As an artist I make live or performance-based art works, often involving improvised singing, sometimes involving making process' and sometimes involving the participation of others, be they passers by or volunteers. I studied Fine Art (Sculpture) at Wimbledon School of Art, where I met and married Richard whose wood work you can see on the other part of this website, graduating (BA hons 1st class) in 2003. Since then I have walked from London to Rome, moved to Lewes and continued to make my Art work whilst having two children. Whistling, singing, making, walking are all ways in which I can help myself feel more alive and more present and this is what I hope to share with others through my work.

Big furry ears make me happy. It might work for you too.

Can you imagine the winter high street bustling with creatures? Foxes, badgers, the odd Minotaur, not to mention all the beasts you can't name.
